Yeah, I tend to prefer to read messages on the BBS myself. But it seems to m there are a number of people who like to use offline readers as well.
I got in that habit back in the dial-up days when my system only had one node and I didn't want to tie it up. I would download the packet and then read it in another desqview window, or copy it onto a floppy to read on my old XT machine.

That's a good use of an offline reader. :)
