Remember when fidonet nodelist used to be 3-4mb and most of us only had like 120-150 meg hard drives back in 1995?

The nodediff was so important! I had to poll my hub long distance to pick up mail, nodediff, etc. The nodediff was a lifesaver - as long as everything went smoothly.

I was a bit shocked when I came back to BBSing and realized that entire zones had been dropped from Fidonet.

The first PC with a hard drive that I used had a 5MB hard drive.

Yes, many Sysops did that, most dialup mailers have the option to drop or ignore entire zone's or nets from nodelist compiling.

A board that wasn't a hub would likely just do a Route *.* to their uplink and didn't really care to do outgoing Crash/direct Netmail.
