A tablet can make a fine software switch. Do you have fairly
large ones mounted on the wall?
Two of them are FireHD 10's and one is an 8". They mainly get used to control the alarm. Eventually will also display my cameras as well whenever I get around to re-installing them. We sold our house and moved to a different town last December and there's been so much to do here (house was built 140ish years ago) and that's one of many things I haven't gotten to yet.
All my light switches are manual. I rather don't mind it that
way! ;)
I don't mind either way but started getting into smart home stuff 23 years ago and like BBSing, it's one of those things that I like to constantly tinker with.
The tablets are mainly just a tool I use for the alarm, cameras (soon lol) and motion detection. Control over the house is all done via voice or is automated based on whatever is going on (time of day, location, weather, etc.)
